Fruit Pantry
I am currently enrolled in AP Drawing at Roosevelt High School. I have always had a love and passion for the arts, as art is calming and brings peace to my life. Attached you will find artwork that I have created that focuses on different types of fruits. Similar to many fruits, I too have an outer casing that needs to be pulled back. As I become more comfortable in my own skin. When I am surrounded by peers that I am not as comfortable around, I tend to stiffen up and I resemble that of a freshly pick banana that is still green.
However, over time, as I become more comfortable with my surroundings, I my outer shell begins to ripen, and I have a softer approach. Growing up I spent much of my free time volunteering with my mother and grandmother at a community food pantry. I have been surrounded by fruit for as long as I can remember. Similar to people, the outside of fruit does not always depict what is hiding underneath! This is the message that I hope to convey to my audience through my artwork. This is a life lesson that I wish I had learned earlier on in life, and it is for these reasons why I hope to convey my message to young school aged children.

Food Pantry - Visual Art
The five images attached depict fruit both in its original form and cut into small pieces. For my artwork I used acrylic paint, gouache, and chalk pastels. I would consider my art as representational. In one of my pieces of art I used blending techniques such smudging to ensure that my artwork showed multiple dimensions and shadowing.
